Lohardaga Gram Swarajya Sansthan (LGSS) has been contributing towards bringing change and improving the life of the downtrodden and marginalized communities since inception. The founder members of the organization had a deep concern of the condition of the area and the communities having long history of negligence and abject poverty in spite of abundant resources. They were also followers of the Gandhian philosophy and principles of Vinoba ji, and Jay Prakash Narayan ji. Influenced by their ideologies, they joined the campaign to address the development challenges of the society with the noble idea of decentralized governance. Thus in the year 1985, the organization Lohardaga Gram Swarajya Sansthan came into existence. The English interpretation of the name is “Lohardaga Village Self-Governance Institution”. Organizing people and strengthening local institutions is the base of our overall intervention. LGSS commits to this philosophy of bottom-up approach and transferring of the ownership of all its efforts to the community, who are the ultimate beneficiaries.
To empower rural poor and disadvantaged community in such a way, so that they can identify, utilize their potential and resources for their overall development in a sustainable manner.
Lohardaga Gram Swarajya Sansthan has a vision to have a Rural Self Reliant Society i.e. Sampoorna Gram Swaraj.
